BC Hydro has launched Power Smart 2.0, a $1-billion demand-side management plan described as its largest-ever conservation program. Offerings include free smart thermostats, instant rebates on efficient products, and pay-for-performance incentives for residential customers.

By 2030 the plan targets 800 MW of capacity savings and 2,200 GWh of annual energy savings — enough to power roughly 220,000 homes — and more than $2 billion in avoided or deferred infrastructure costs. BC Hydro also projects $1.4 billion in GDP growth and as many as 3,500 jobs annually.
