Natural Resources Canada has released guidelines for virtual energy assessments and virtual home labelling under the National Approach to Home Labelling, following a public review that closed in October 2025. The guidelines are voluntary and cover common modelling assumptions, minimum assessment inputs and reported outputs, a modelling test suite for vendor consistency, a consistent method for computing energy, cost and emissions estimates, and a common label format.They were developed with input from eleven provincial and municipal governments and nine virtual labelling companies.
