Yukon ranks seventh in the 2024 Scorecard, dropping one spot since its 2022 debut and scoring 32 points out of 100.
Yukon has adopted Tier 1 of the 2020 National Building Code and aims for net-zero energy-ready codes by 2032. The territory performs admirably in several other policy areas, including energy efficiency program spending and savings, and public EV charging availability.
The territory achieved a top score for their Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programming for residential and commercial projects. PACE programs are available in eight municipalities and provide competitive loan terms and rates.
This Scorecard found that there were no energy management programs for the commercial or industrial sectors in Yukon in 2023. This is an area in which the government could expand program offers. Its neighbour to the south, British Columbia, provides an excellent case study on what a comprehensive energy management program could look like in Yukon.
