British Columbia is expanding the Energy Conservation Assistance Program using Canada Greener Homes Affordability Program funding. The Province is contributing $8 million through CleanBC, BC Hydro $100.5 million and FortisBC $20.1 million.
The funds expand no-cost home energy retrofits — including electric heat pumps, dual-fuel systems, insulation and other weatherization — for income-qualified households.
The Government of Canada is providing $19.4 million to Alberta organizations through the Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program. The allocation includes $10 million to Emissions Reduction Alberta to deliver strategic energy management for industrial facilities.
In June 2026 Quebec finalized its first regulation governing energy reporting for buildings, published in the Gazette officielle. The compliance schedule phases in by building type and size: from 2027 for non-residential buildings over 5,000 m² and government buildings; from 2028 for non-residential buildings over 2,000 m² and residential buildings with more than 25 units.
The Government of Yukon and the City of Whitehorse announced on June 18, 2026 that they will run an engagement process on the 2025 edition of the National Building Code before deciding how it should apply, with sessions beginning in late summer. In-person and virtual sessions are planned along with an online input tool, and the territory is working with code experts to present the changes introduced in the 2025 edition.
Natural Resources Canada has released guidelines for virtual energy assessments and virtual home labelling under the National Approach to Home Labelling, following a public review that closed in October 2025. The guidelines are voluntary and cover common modelling assumptions, minimum assessment inputs and reported outputs, a modelling test suite for vendor consistency, a consistent method for computing energy, cost and emissions estimates, and a common label format.They were developed with input from eleven provincial and municipal governments and nine virtual labelling companies.
