The Province of British Columbia announced a commitment to triple the size of its public electric vehicle charging network by 2035. BC Hydro is deploying 3,500 new public charging ports by 2035 to support public demand.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, on behalf of the Building Code Short-Term Advisory Body, posted a proposal on July 15, 2026 seeking public input on a review of Ontario's Building Code. The stated purpose is to identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs, delays, complexity and administrative burden while maintaining health, safety, accessibility and performance outcomes. The comment period runs to August 14, 2026.

Starting July 6, 2026, BC Hydro customers can register for free smart thermostats under Power Smart 2.0, with delivery beginning in October 2026. BC Hydro has signed agreements with Canadian manufacturers Mysa and Sinopé, a sourcing decision the Province framed as keeping funds in Canada. The devices are valued at roughly $350 and target homes with electric baseboard heating. Thermostats arrive pre-enrolled in BC Hydro's Peak Saver program, with seasonal rewards of $50, or $100 for income-qualified customers.

Ontario has opened a consultation on a commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) framework that would let municipalities opt in to support private financing for clean energy upgrades repaid through property-based charges. The proposal addresses eligible properties, lender consent requirements, municipal roles and program safeguards, and seeks feedback on design, regulation and enforcement.

NB Power has retired its existing low-income efficiency program and replaced it with the Enhanced Energy Saving Program, backed by $30 million over three years. Eligibility is set at combined household income below $70,000. Qualifying households receive free heat pumps where the home is heated by electric baseboards, or insulation regardless of heating fuel. The program is expected to reach 40,000 homes.
